Artist's Description
Stones in a stream
Days and nights were strung together
Like dull stones in a dry creek bed.
Running endless and lonely
Each new one touched the last
Without feeling or meaning or beauty.
Lonely wind passed over and smoothed
The rough edges that gave them texture,
Time and sand wore away their shine.
Merciless light bleached their color,
Till they were all the same all dull and dry.
But brilliance gathered, pouring shimmering drops
Of what was surely lost, and the stones
Dripping, spilling, sparkling moisture,
See the new day dew glistening the surface
And shine emerges with earthy color.
Light catches on surfaces missed on the old
Dull dry stone days strung together - no longer
Without beauty or meaning or feeling, now
Days and nights dance toward a blazing future
A stream...

Upon retirement and widowhood I’ve returned to my first...
